Malik Sarwar

d. 1399 · 14th century · Also known as Khwaja Jahan

Malik Sarwar was a eunuch noble of the Delhi Sultanate who founded the Jaunpur Sultanate. In 1394 the Tughluq sultan made him governor of the eastern provinces with the title Malik al-Sharq, 'lord of the east'. After Timur's sack of Delhi in 1398 he ruled independently from Jaunpur, and his adopted son founded the Sharqi dynasty.
