Manghit dynasty

1756–1920 · 18th century · Also known as Manghits

The Manghits were an Uzbek tribe whose chiefs ruled Bukhara from the mid-18th century until 1920. Muhammad Rahim, who held the office of atalik, took effective power under Nader Shah's protection, and in 1785 his relative Shah Murad founded the Emirate of Bukhara, the dynasty taking the title emir. The last emir, Alim Khan, fled when the Red Army took Bukhara in 1920.
