Manjakamiadana

Manjakamiadana was the queen's palace, the largest building of the Rova, the royal compound of the Merina rulers in Antananarivo. Built in timber for Ranavalona I by Jean Laborde around 1840, it was encased in stone between 1867 and 1873 to designs by the missionary James Cameron. Gutted by fire in 1995, it has since been restored.
