Manuel Estrada Cabrera
Manuel Estrada Cabrera (1857–1924) was a Guatemalan lawyer who ruled the country as president from 1898 to 1920, one of the longest dictatorships in Central American history. He favoured foreign companies, granting the United Fruit Company and its railway affiliate major concessions, and ruled through a secret police and a personality cult. In 1920 the national assembly declared him insane and removed him, and he died in prison.
