Person
Marcabru
Marcabru was a Gascon troubadour active from about 1130 to 1150 at the courts of William X of Aquitaine and Alfonso VII of León and Castile. More than forty of his poems survive, many of them sharp moral satires attacking false love and the vices of the nobility. He composed one of the earliest surviving pastourelles and a crusade song urging war against the Muslims in Spain.
