Masovia
Masovia is a historical region of east-central Poland on the middle Vistula, centred first on Płock and later on Warsaw. From 1138 it was a separate Piast duchy, often divided among branches of the dynasty, until it was incorporated into the Kingdom of Poland in 1526. Its numerous petty nobility was characteristic of the region, and Warsaw became the royal capital in 1596.
