Warsaw

Warsaw is the capital of Poland, on the Vistula River. It became the royal residence and effective capital of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth after Sigismund III Vasa moved the court there from Kraków around 1596, and from 1569 it was the regular seat of the Sejm and of royal elections. Accounts of the Commonwealth discuss it in the context of the state's foundation.
