Mastanabal

2nd century BCE · 2nd century BCE

Mastanabal was a Numidian prince, one of the three legitimate sons of King Masinissa. When Scipio Aemilianus divided the royal functions after Masinissa's death in 148 BCE, Mastanabal received responsibility for justice. He was the father of Jugurtha, by a concubine, and of Gauda, both later kings of Numidia, and he died before his brother Micipsa.
