The May Thirtieth Movement was a wave of anti-imperialist strikes and protests in China that followed the shooting of demonstrators by the International Settlement's police on Nanjing Road, Shanghai, on 30 May 1925. Strikes and boycotts of British and Japanese goods spread to Hong Kong, Canton and other cities. The movement greatly strengthened the Nationalist and Communist parties.
