Medo-Babylonian conquest of the Assyrian Empire
The Medo-Babylonian conquest of the Assyrian Empire was the war of 626–609 BCE in which Babylonia under Nabopolassar, joined from 615 BCE by the Medes under Cyaxares, destroyed the Neo-Assyrian Empire. Assur fell in 614 BCE and Nineveh was sacked in 612 BCE; the last Assyrian king, Ashur-uballit II, was defeated at Harran in 610–609 BCE. Assyria's lands were divided between the Neo-Babylonian Empire and the Medes.
