Melik Shahnazar II

18th century · 18th century

Melik Shahnazar II was the Armenian melik of Varanda, one of the five melikdoms of Karabakh, in the mid-eighteenth century. In conflict with the other meliks, he allied with Panah Ali Khan, founder of the Karabakh Khanate, and helped him build the fortress of Shusha in the 1750s, which allowed the khan to bring the Armenian melikdoms under his authority.
