Mongol invasions of India
The Mongol invasions of India were a series of attacks on the Delhi Sultanate by Mongols of the Chagatai realm, peaking between 1297 and 1306. Alauddin Khalji repeatedly repelled them, protecting northern India from the devastation suffered elsewhere. Mongol pressure in this era also shaped the wider Islamic world, where the Mamluk Sultanate held off Mongol armies in Syria.
