Mount Kilimanjaro

Also known as Kilimanjaro

Mount Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano in north-eastern Tanzania near the Kenyan border and, at 5,895 metres, the highest mountain in Africa. Its summit, Uhuru Peak on the Kibo cone, still carries glaciers that are rapidly shrinking. Kilimanjaro National Park was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1987, and the mountain attracts tens of thousands of climbers each year.
