Muhammad ibn Shaddad
Muhammad ibn Shaddad was the founder of the Shaddadid dynasty, a Kurdish family that rose as the Sallarid emirate declined. In 951 he seized Dvin in Armenia, though he could not hold it, and he died in 955. His sons established the family at Ganja in Arran, where the Shaddadids ruled the lands between the Kura and the Araxes until the late 11th century.
