Mulla Ilyas, known as Akhund Baba, was a 17th-century Pashtun religious leader of the Yusufzai Painda Khel in the Dir region of north-western Pakistan. His spiritual standing gave his descendants authority over the Panjkora valley, where they became khans and later Nawabs of Dir. The princely state of Dir, ruled by his line, lasted until it was absorbed into Pakistan in 1969.
