Musi River
The Musi River is a river in southern Sumatra on which the city of Palembang stands. Palembang served as the core capital of the Srivijaya Empire, and its riverine position allowed the state to oversee shipping between the Indian Ocean and the South China Sea through the Malacca and Sunda straits.
