Mustafa Pasha Bushati

1797–1860 · 19th century

Mustafa Pasha Bushati was the last hereditary pasha of Scutari (Shkodër) from the Bushati family, which had ruled northern Albania almost independently since 1757. He joined Bosnian notables resisting the centralising reforms of Sultan Mahmud II, but in 1831 the grand vizier Reşid Mehmed Pasha besieged him in Shkodër and forced his surrender, ending the Bushati pashalik.
