Mylae
Mylae was an ancient Greek city on the north coast of Sicily, founded by settlers from Zancle in the 8th century BCE on the site of modern Milazzo. Off its coast in 260 BCE the Roman fleet, using the boarding bridge known as the corvus, won its first great naval victory over Carthage. The town later belonged to Messana and to Roman Sicily.
