Nlaka'pamux

Also known as Thompson people

The Nlaka'pamux, formerly called the Thompson people, are an Interior Salish First Nation of southern British Columbia, living along the Fraser River around the Fraser Canyon and along the lower Thompson River. They lived by salmon fishing, hunting and gathering. The Fraser River gold rush of 1858 brought thousands of miners into their territory, leading to the Fraser Canyon War.
