1998 · 20th century

The Northern Ireland Assembly is the devolved legislature of Northern Ireland, created under the Good Friday Agreement of 1998 and meeting at Stormont in Belfast. Its executive must share power between unionist and nationalist parties, and the Assembly has been suspended several times, most recently from 2022 to 2024, when parties refused to take part.
