Notsie

Also known as Notsé, Nuatja

Notsie (Notsé) is a town in southern Togo, remembered in tradition as the ancestral walled home of the Ewe peoples. According to their histories, the Ewe fled from Notsie to escape the tyranny of King Agokoli, probably in the 17th century, and dispersed to found new states. Remains of its ancient earthen walls survive.
