Ondo State

Ondo State is a state in south-western Nigeria, created in 1976 from the former Western State, with its capital at Akure. Mostly Yoruba, it includes historic kingdoms such as Akure, Owo and Ondo, and its coastal south is home to the Ilaje and Ijaw. It is one of Nigeria's main cocoa-producing states, and Ekiti State was split from it in 1996.
