Olowo

Also known as Olowo of Owo

The Olowo is the title of the king of Owo, a Yoruba kingdom in Ondo State, Nigeria. The royal line traces its descent to Ojugbelu, said to be a son or grandson of Oduduwa of Ile-Ife. The Olowo ruled with graded chiefs and town quarters, and the court adopted much regalia and ritual from neighbouring Benin. The title continues as a traditional office.
