Oneida Lake
Oneida Lake is the largest lake lying wholly within New York State, north-east of Syracuse. Its shores and the creeks flowing into it were the homeland of the Oneida nation of the Iroquois Confederacy, and it lay on the water route linking the Mohawk River to Lake Ontario. It later became part of the New York State canal system.
