Orăștie Mountains
The Orăștie Mountains are a range of the Southern Carpathians in Hunedoara County, Romania, south of the town of Orăștie. They were the heart of the Dacian kingdom from the 1st century BCE to 106 CE, with a ring of fortresses, among them Costești, Blidaru and Piatra Roșie, protecting the capital Sarmizegetusa Regia. Six of these sites form a World Heritage Site.
