Oregon Country

The Oregon Country was the region of north-western North America west of the Rocky Mountains between California and Russian America. Britain and the United States agreed in 1818 to occupy it jointly, while the Hudson's Bay Company dominated its fur trade. American settlement along the Oregon Trail in the 1840s led to the Oregon Treaty of 1846, which divided it at the 49th parallel.
