Osun State
Osun State is a state in south-western Nigeria, created in 1991 from part of Oyo State, with its capital at Osogbo. It covers much of the old Ijesha and Ife lands, including Ilesa and Ile-Ife, regarded by the Yoruba as their ancestral home. It takes its name from the Osun river and goddess, whose sacred grove at Osogbo is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
