Pablo Zárate Willka

Pablo Zárate Willka was an Aymara leader who raised indigenous forces in support of the Liberals of La Paz during Bolivia's Federal War of 1898–1899. His fighters helped defeat the Conservatives of Sucre, but the movement also pursued its own aims of land restitution and self-rule. After the war the victorious Liberals turned against their allies, and Zárate Willka was imprisoned and later killed.
