Pact of Union (1921)
The Pact of Union was an agreement signed at San José, Costa Rica, in January 1921, on the centenary of Central American independence, to recreate a federal union of the isthmus. Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras ratified it and formed the Federation of Central America, with a constitution adopted in September 1921. The union collapsed early in 1922 after a coup in Guatemala withdrew it from the federation.
