Tegucigalpa
Tegucigalpa is the capital and largest city of Honduras, in a highland valley of the south-centre. It grew from a silver-mining settlement founded in 1578, and after independence it rivalled Comayagua as the seat of government until it became the permanent capital in 1880. Together with neighbouring Comayagüela it forms the Central District.
