Comayagua
Comayagua is a city in central Honduras, founded in 1537 by the Spanish. As the seat of the colonial governors and bishops it was the capital of Honduras, and after independence it alternated with its rival Tegucigalpa as the seat of government until 1880, when the capital moved permanently to Tegucigalpa. Its colonial cathedral and churches survive.
