Football War
The Football War was a brief war between El Salvador and Honduras in July 1969, also called the Hundred Hours' War. Its causes were land disputes and the expulsion of Salvadoran migrants from Honduras, and it coincided with riots at World Cup qualifying matches between the two countries. About 3,000 people died before the Organization of American States arranged a ceasefire, and a peace treaty followed only in 1980.
