Palapye

Palapye is a town in central Botswana, between Gaborone and Francistown. Khama III moved the capital of the Bangwato there from Shoshong in 1889, and the hill town at Phalatswe, with its large stone church, became one of the biggest settlements in the region. The capital moved again to Serowe in 1902, and the modern town grew around the railway station on the line from Mafeking to Bulawayo.
