Palazzo Farnese

1514–1589 · 16th century

The Palazzo Farnese is a Renaissance palace in Rome, begun around 1514 for Cardinal Alessandro Farnese, later Pope Paul III, by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger and completed by Michelangelo and Giacomo della Porta. Its gallery was decorated with frescoes by Annibale Carracci. It housed the Farnese collection of classical sculpture and is now the French embassy in Italy.
