Pan Geng

fl. c. 1300 BCE · 14th century BCE

Pan Geng was a king of the Shang dynasty of China, traditionally credited with moving the capital to Yin, near modern Anyang, around 1300 BCE. The move ended a series of earlier relocations and Yin remained the capital until the fall of the dynasty. A speech attributed to him is preserved in the Book of Documents.
