Erligang culture

c. 1600–1400 BCE · 17th century BCE

The Erligang culture is a Bronze Age culture of China dated to about 1600–1400 BCE, named after a site at Zhengzhou in Henan. Its centre was the large walled city at Zhengzhou, and its bronze vessels, cast in a uniform style, spread as far as Panlongcheng on the Yangtze. Most archaeologists identify it with the early Shang dynasty.
