Wu Ding

13th century BCE · 13th century BCE

Wu Ding was a king of the Shang dynasty who reigned for several decades in the thirteenth century BCE from the capital at Yinxu, near Anyang. The earliest known oracle-bone inscriptions date from his reign and record wars against the Tufang, Guifang and Qiang, royal hunts and rituals. His consort Fu Hao, whose intact tomb was found in 1976, led armies on his behalf.
