Panama Papers
The Panama Papers were 11.5 million leaked documents from the Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca, published from April 2016 by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists and partner newspapers. They revealed how politicians, officials and wealthy individuals around the world used offshore shell companies to hide assets and avoid tax. The leak forced the resignation of Iceland's prime minister and damaged Panama's reputation as a financial centre.
