Papinian

Papinian was a Roman jurist of the late second and early third centuries CE, regarded as one of the greatest legal minds of the classical period. Alongside Gaius, Ulpian and Paulus he helped develop a sophisticated body of Roman law. Their writings were later preserved in Justinian's Digest and form a lasting legacy of the Roman Empire.
