Paraetonium
Paraetonium was an ancient port on the Mediterranean coast west of Alexandria, on the site of modern Marsa Matruh in Egypt. Alexander the Great passed through it on his way to the oracle of Siwa in 331 BCE, and Mark Antony stayed there after his defeat at Actium in 31 BCE. It traded with the Libyan peoples of the interior.
