Pedro Monteclaro
Pedro Monteclaro was a Filipino writer and local official from Miagao, Iloilo, on the island of Panay. In 1907 he published the Maragtas, a legendary history of Panay that he said was drawn from older writings and oral tradition. The book was long treated as history before scholars showed it to be a modern compilation.
