Penthièvre
Penthièvre is a historic region of northern Brittany, France, around Lamballe and the bay of Saint-Brieuc. It became a county held by a branch of the ducal house of Brittany in the 11th century, and the claim of Joan of Penthièvre to the duchy led to the Breton War of Succession of 1341–1364. It later passed to French noble families and was raised to a duchy in 1569.
