Pentri

The Pentri were the largest and most powerful of the four Samnite peoples of ancient Italy, living in the mountains of modern Molise around their chief town, Bovianum. The great sanctuary of Pietrabbondante lay in their territory. They led Samnite resistance to Rome in the Samnite Wars and again in the Social War of 91–88 BCE.
