Penukonda
Penukonda is a town in Andhra Pradesh, India, below a hill fortress. A provincial stronghold of the Vijayanagara Empire, it became the capital of the Aravidu kings after the sack of Hampi in 1565, until they moved to Chandragiri towards the end of the 16th century. Its fort walls, temples and the Gagan Mahal palace survive.
