Golconda Fort
Golconda Fort is a fortress on a granite hill west of Hyderabad in Telangana, India. First built as a mud fort under the Kakatiyas, it passed from the Musunuri Nayaks to the Bahmani Sultanate in the 1360s and became the capital of the Qutb Shahi sultans, who rebuilt it in stone. It gave its name to the diamonds traded there and fell to Aurangzeb in 1687 after an eight-month siege.
