Bahmani Sultanate

1347 · 14th century

The Bahmani Sultanate was a Muslim state in the Deccan founded in 1347 by nobles who rebelled against Muhammad bin Tughluq of Delhi. Its secession was a major loss for the Delhi Sultanate and a sign of its declining hold on the south. The Bahmani state later broke up into five Deccan sultanates.
