Bijapur
Bijapur, officially Vijayapura since 2014, is a city in northern Karnataka, India. From about 1490 to 1686 it was the capital of the Adil Shahi sultans of Bijapur, one of the Deccan sultanates, who filled it with mosques, palaces and tombs, including the Ibrahim Rauza and the Gol Gumbaz. Aurangzeb took it after a long siege in 1686, and it declined under Mughal and Maratha rule.
