Châlus

Châlus is a small town in the Haute-Vienne department of the Limousin, central France. While besieging its castle of Châlus-Chabrol, held for the viscount of Limoges, King Richard I of England was struck by a crossbow bolt on 26 March 1199 and died of the wound on 6 April. The castle keep still stands.
