Chalukya-Vikrama era

1076 · 11th century

The Chalukya-Vikrama era was a calendar era introduced by the Western Chalukya king Vikramaditya VI to count years from his accession in 1076. It replaced the Shaka era in many inscriptions of his empire during his reign and for some time afterwards, before falling out of use with the dynasty's decline. It is an important aid for dating Deccan inscriptions of the period.
