Peter Chester
Peter Chester was a British army officer who served as governor of the Province of West Florida from 1770 until its capture by Spanish forces in 1781. He governed from Pensacola alongside an elected assembly, with which he often quarrelled. During the American Revolutionary War the colony became a refuge for loyalists before Bernardo de Gálvez took Pensacola in 1781.
